Global Data Privacy — Middle East/North AfricaDale Waterman is a Managing Director for the Middle East and North Africa and is based in Dubai, UAE. Mr. Waterman is responsible for consulting growth and market development within the MENA region with a focus on global data privacy, cybersecurity, information governance and investigations. Prior to Breakwater, Mr. Waterman was a corporate attorney, public policy, and regulatory affairs professional at Microsoft where he gained 15+ years of legal and technical experience, including expertise in digital transformation across industry verticals, cloud computing, cybersecurity, AI, governance, risk management and compliance. During this period, Mr. Waterman held several positions, including the HQ Lead for the Middle East and Africa, the lead attorney for industry and digital transformation, and the head of the Microsoft Digital Crimes Unit for the region. Mr. Waterman holds an LLB from Rhodes University in South Africa. He is a Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe (CIPP/E), a Governance, Certified Risk, and Compliance Management Professional (CRCMP) and a Governance, Risk Management & Compliance (GRC) Professional. Mr. Waterman is currently the chair for the IAPP’s KnowledgeNet chapter in the UAE (2022/2023) and is responsible for developing and moderating a Privacy Series for the Association of Corporate Counsel’s MENA Chapter.
